Today, the US Fish and Wildlife Service released a snapshot of the Final Interim Strategy to Protect Florida Manatees. The detailed text is not yet available to the Association. Of significance, the prior requirement to “contribute” to marine law enforcement when making a marine construction permit application no longer exists.

The Association and our members recognize and compliment both the Governor and Colleen Castille of the Executive Office of the Governor for their empathy, understanding of the issues involved, and superior efforts to precipitate this needed relief. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “The closer government is to the people, the better they are represented.”

The Association trusts that other provisions of the full document will provide further relief from the burdens of over regulation and that permit processing can be expedited without delay.
