The Executive Director is retained by the Board of Directors. He reports directly to the President for guidance in implementing the policies, goals, and objectives of the Board. He is a non-voting member of the Executive Committee.

He is a charter member of the manatee forum; and a member of the US Fish Wildlife Service Manatee Recovery Plan Education Task Force and Regulatory Task Force.

Specific responsibilities include: hiring and contracting for staff and functional support; representing the Association before government agencies and elected public officials; coordinating with other associations; editing and publishing the FMCA ADVOCATE; maintenance of the FMCA web site; coordinating the membership, education, and member support programs; and maintaining the Association offices.
