| IMPORTANT NEWS |

Florida Marine Contractors Association is
a
non-profit Florida corporation dedicated to improving marine construction.
The Association is comprised of contractor,
associate, professional, and reciprocal members who embrace the goals,
policies, and purposes of the Association.
Membership
has grown steadily since a small group
established the Association in 1999.
Today,
Florida Marine Contractors Association, Inc. has the resources
to influence events of vital concern to the
marine construction industry. FMCA is truly the professional trade association for the marine construction industry.
If you would like more information regarding our
Association or are interested in joining us in common cause, please contact us.
We do trade shows right. Above are scenes from the Green Marine Summit, an industry first that will result in incentives-based standards for sustainable and renewable marine construction.

2009 Dock & Marine Expo
FMCA's signature event, the Florida Dock & Marine Expo, took place May 1-2, 2009, at the Jacksonville Waterfront Hyatt. We exceeded goals for the Expo, with more attendees, more contractors, more exhibitors and more good vibes than expected.
Favorte moment: a long-time contractor member who was attending his first Expo said: "I am a dumb (fellow) for never coming to an Expo before."
Another contractor brought his client, and sealed a $250,000 deal because of the products and information his client could see at the Expo.
Whether it's lower costs for insurance, lower fees for crane certification, rebates from the IRS, insights on regulations from our DEP/ACOE workshop, or better products that can seal the deal, Expo attendees made money on opportunities that those who did not attend.... did not!
In a tough year, thanks to everyone who made this a Great Expo.

2009 Dues Reduced
On the recommendation of the Executive Director, FMCA has slashed 2009 dues in half in a proactive move to help members through the worst business climate since the 2002-4 manatee permit moratorium.
Effective January 1, any applicant can join FMCA for just $250, plus a $50 contribution to the "Save a Dock" fund. All renewals are $400, plus the $50 contribution. Dues previously were $500 to join and $800 to renew.
Members whose renewals came due in 2008 are not eligible for the new rate, but are encouraged to ask their Chapter Director or the Executive Director about payment options.

FMCA Proposes Major Permitting, Financing, Reforms
FMCA is undertaking several initiatives to help speed economic recovery by eliminating permitting complexity, and by establishing a viable, affordable, marine construction loan program.
As of Wednesday, April 29, the measure, HB 7143, has passed the Florida House and is awaiting action by the Senate.

Print ADVOCATE Takes a Holiday
Also on the recommendation of the Executive Director, the print version of the FMCA ADVOCATE has been put on short-term hiatus.
FMCA will "beef up" news features online, and will continue to print and distribute ADVOCATES for special purposes, such as the coming FMCA Dock & Marine Expo 2009, scheduled for May 1-2 at the Waterfront Hyatt, Jacksonville.
The ADVOCATE will resume print publication soon as possible and all advertising contracts will be fully honored.
